ORLEN Paliwa, an ORLEN Group company, has signed a cooperation agreement with Green Lab Sp. z o.o. that will help secure diesel supplies for companies of the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR). In the first stage of the programme, ORLEN Paliwa will deliver ca. 16 million litres of diesel oil this year alone to meet the needs of KOWR companies. Concurrently, negotiations will continue on extending that business partnership.
The business agreement between ORLEN Paliwa Sp. z o.o. on one side and the KOWR with companies under its supervision, represented by Green Lab Sp. z o.o., on the other side, was signed in the presence of Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Łukasz Hołubowski, President of the Management Board of ORLEN Paliwa, and Grzegorz Pięta, General Director of the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR).
“KOWR is becoming a leading institution offering support to the agri-food industry and, most importantly, to Polish farmers. Although it is not an easy task considering the conditions prevailing on today’s agricultural market, we search for solutions through which Polish agriculture can continue to develop,” said Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
ORLEN Paliwa will supply diesel oil to KOWR companies on terms that will allow them to smoothly meet their needs, while delivering significant savings on what is a key agricultural input. Further negotiations will be held concerning other products in the ORLEN Group’s broad range, including feed salt, water treatment salt tablets from IKS Solino, oils and lubricants from ORLEN Oil, as well as PKN ORLEN fleet cards, ORLEN Ochrona security services, and nitrogen fertilisers from ANWIL. The business talks with the ORLEN Group will be carried on by Green Lab as the Shared Services Centre for KOWR companies.
“Profit-making is not our primary objective. The most important thing is to find solutions that will be of help to Polish farmers. We are beginning with fuel, but we are confident there is more to come,” said Grzegorz Pięta, General Director of the National Support Centre for Agriculture.
“Acting on our earlier commitments, we are entering the practical stage of the ‘Together We Fuel Polish Agriculture’ project. By doing so, we contribute to the development of Polish agriculture and meet our own business objectives for fuel supplies, while ensuring product quality and safety. Not only the 40 KOWR member companies but also a host of other individuals and businesses working for Polish agriculture will be added to our base of business partners. I expect this is just the starting point for a broader collaborative partnership that will benefit both agricultural producers and the entire ORLEN Group,” said Łukasz Hołubowski, President of the Management Board of ORLEN Paliwa.
The agreement was possible thanks to the effort of working groups operating at ORLEN Paliwa and Green Lab under the patronage of KOWR as an executive agency of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The partnership officially commenced during the European Agricultural Forum in Jasionka in March 2019 with a declaration of intent to partner under the ‘Together We Fuel Polish Agriculture’ project run with the support of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
