What goes on in Poland on the 10th of March.

The Sejm adopted the new distance law

The liberalization of the law that was a hindrance to onshore wind farms development in Poland has been adopted by the Sejm.

The Sejm adopted an amendment to the Distance Act abolishing the 10h rule. The previous version of the bill said that a wind turbine can only be set up at a distance from buildings that is ten times its height. This significantly undermined Poland’s onshore wind potential.

The MPs rejected the Senate amendment establishing the minimum distance at 500 meters from buildings and adopted a distance of at least 700 meters.

The bill is awaiting the president’s signature.

Poland handed over Leopards to Ukraine and organizes a hub where tanks will be serviced

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak said in an interview with reporters that Poland has already handed over its Leopard tanks to Ukraine, and tanks from other NATO and European Union allies will be handed over soon. In addition, a hub is to be established in the country, where tanks for Ukraine will be serviced and repaired.

Mr. Błaszczak said that the process of training Ukrainian tankers on Leopard tanks has ended, and thanks to Poland’s efforts an entire battalion of Leopard 2A4 tanks has been completed. “In this way, we support Ukraine within the framework of the international coalition. In addition to our 14 Leopard tanks this battalion also has tanks from Canada, eight tanks from Norway, there are tanks from Spain,” he said. The Polish tanks have already been transferred. “The tanks from our allies will be delivered in a very short time,” he stated.

“We are also starting to set up a hub, which will be responsible for servicing and repairing tanks that have already reached or are about to arrive in Ukraine. It will be located at the Bumar-Łabędy factory. Spare parts for these tanks will be a challenge, because their production was discontinued 20 years ago, but we are ready to resume it in cooperation with Germany. We are in talks to ensure that Leopard tanks for Ukraine are maintained, repaired and serviced in Poland, ” added Mariusz Błaszczak.

Earlier it was reported that Poland, Norway, Canada and Spain are able to jointly hand over to Ukraine a battalion of Leopard tanks. The German government agreed to hand them over to Kyiv. It is not yet clear when these tanks will take part in direct battles with the Russians.
