What goes on in Poland on the 16th of October.

The European Commission may call into question the point of introducing the capacity market in Poland, an instrument that enables the financing of new power plants – writes Teresa Wójcik, editor at BiznesAlert.pl. 

According to Compass Lexecon experts, the security of electricity supply in Poland in the long run can only be guaranteed by implementation of the capacity mechanism (CM). This solution would be the most efficient form of intervention and the most beneficial one for both electricity producers and for the end consumers.

The e-bus program promoted by the Polish government will support the industry, use our production potential and become part of the strategy for low-emission transportation.

„If we add up all plans of energy companies for the coming years, we will come up with infinity. Or at least with amounts that will give us a headache,” writes Karolina Baca-Pogorzelska from the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily. 

Coal-fired power and heating plants have four years to decrease emission of pollutants, said the European Commission in a press release. Brussels announced it would verify emissions permits for large combustion plants.

„Except for showcasing the First Ladies’ fashionable gowns, the Sicily’s G7 summit also resulted in the predictable appearance of support for Poland’s lonely climate negotiation position,” writes professor Konrad Świrski from the Warsaw University of Technology and the Transition Technologies company.
