What goes on in Poland on the 17th of August.

An almost 1 km long gas pipeline will be installed under the San river using the technique of horizontal directional drilling (HDD). The upcoming drilling process is one of the biggest challenges for GAZ-SYSTEM in the construction of the Hermanowice-Strachocina gas pipeline.

Gaz-System will verify whether a construction of a new gas storage facility in the Damasławek salt dome in the kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship is possible. On Thursday the company started the drilling. 

In an interview with BiznesAlert.pl, Tomasz Stępień Gaz-System’s President of the Management Board talks about the progress of the Baltic Pipe project. He believes that the positive result of the first stage of the open season procedure means the project will enter a fast track and will be completed in 2022. 

Together with the interoperating system operators, Gaz-System published reports on the assessment of demand for incremental capacity. In result a decision on starting the preparations for the design phase for an interconnection with Germany has been made.

„The Phase I of the Open Season 2017 for the Baltic Pipe project has showed the interest in realization of the Baltic Pipe Project and confirmed the sufficient demand for gas transportation from the North Sea through Denmark and the Baltic Sea to Poland,” announced Gaz-System in a press release.
