On Friday, May 24, the Warsaw youth will leave the school for the third time in order to fight the passivity of politicians on the progress of climate change. This time the match will be held under the slogan: „Strike before it gets hot!” – informed the Youth Climate Strike (MSK).
– Several streets in the city center will be partially impassable. The march is divided into two blocks (general block and block with animation for children) and it will pass from the ONZ circle through Świętokrzyska, Marszałkowska streets and Jerozolimskie avenue to Rondo de Gaulle from 11:00 to 15:00. During the march, the participants will perform a die-in, a form of protest symbolizing dying, consisting in lying a group of people on the ground for a certain period of time – we read in the press release.
According to the organizers, the strike also takes place in 16 other Polish cities and in around 2000 cities around the world. Just like in March, this time, youth from more than 100 countries will take part in climate protests. One of the main postulates of strikers in Poland are: introduction of environmental education to schools, and implementation of IPCC recommendations by the Polish government
„We, the Polish youth, will not rest until we force the politicians to take decisive measures to prevent the collapse of our lives.”, You can read on the event’s Facebook page. The organizers of the strike also emphasize that despite the demonstration by the Youth Climate Strike, the presence of all age groups is important.
