Poland remains the only country in the European Union that has not yet presented a long-term strategy to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, which provokes criticism both at home and abroad – writes Mateusz Gibała, editor at BiznesAlert.pl.

Poland faces a huge challenge to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. It is estimated that the country needs an additional 1.9 trillion euros for investment during this period, which translates into an annual demand of 83 billion euros.

The Ministry of Climate and Environment wants to increase funds for the development of biogas and biomethane by two billion. In addition, it aims to produce 420 MW from biological gas in the Polish energy mix.

Grupa Azoty Puławy has suspended the production of melamine due to high gas and CO2 emission allowances prices, but its non-EU competition doesn’t have to face such challenges.

Discussions on Polish-German cooperation in energy transformation are starting once again, with a loophole allowing Russia to earn a billion  euros from the sale of fossil fuels to the EU, and with trolls  combating climate policy.

Poland is talking with the UK about cooperation and exchange of experience in the energy sector. „We look forward to continuing to work with the British people on green technologies and new solutions to fossil fuel dependency,” Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig – Kloska said at a meeting with the British Embassy.

During the Baltic Nuclear Energy Forum in Gdańsk Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka explained the schedule of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ). „The update of the Polish Nuclear Energy Program (PPEJ) is expected by the end of this year,” he said.
