Tchórzewski: Poland can’t afford a sharp development of RES

Poland cannot afford the sharp development of renewable energy sources. The introduction of renewable energy will be progressing in Poland in an evolutionary manner, said Minister of Energy Krzysztof Tchórzewski on the panel devoted to the Polish Energy Policy until 2040 (PEP2040) at the 11th European Energy Congress in Katowice.

Federal permit for Port Arthur LNG

The Management Board of PGNiG SA welcomed the approval of the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for the construction of the Port Arthur liquefaction terminal in Jefferson County, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico, which is due to start operating in 2023.

Orlen Group establishes retail presence in Slovakia

The first ORLEN Group-owned service station has launched in Slovakia under the Benzina brand. Ten more locations with the red seahorse logo will open in the country by the end of this year. Thus, PKN ORLEN has expanded its retail presence into yet another market. With its stations in Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania and Slovakia, the ORLEN Group operates the largest retail network on Central and Eastern Europe’s fuel market.

Naftogaz: Gazprom abuses its dominance in European gas markets

  • Naftogaz filed a complaint to the European Commission against Gazprom for abuses of dominance in European gas markets. The main target of the complaint is Gazprom’s construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline between Russia and Germany. Nord Stream 2 is the longest submarine gas pipeline in the world, at 1,230 kilometres. Gazprom owns and controls Nord Stream 2. It is a substantial investment of almost EUR 10 billion, partially financed by a consortium of European gas companies.
