PISM: Łódź as an EXPO 2022 Candidate – Opportunities for Poland and Central Europe

Łódź is a candidate to host Specialised EXPO 2022. It proposes the flagship event “City Re: Invented,” a newly created city. The theme of change of a post-industrial centre refers to the successful transformation of Poland and other countries of Central Europe. The exhibition provides the host country an opportunity to present itself as an innovative state that uses new technologies to manage development. The final selection of the EXPO host city will be made in November. Amendment to Renewable energy act signed by the President

President Andrzej Duda signed the amendment to the Act on renewable energy sources. This has been confirmed on Monday on the President’s official website. The amendment’s basic assumption is to eliminate the fixed value of the so-called alternative fee and instead link it with market prices of certificates of energy origin issued for specified renewable energy sources.

PGE bets on lignite (coverage)

„We are happy we continue to increase power production,” Henryk Baranowski PGE’s CEO said during a press conference on the company’s 1H results. „We believe a 20% increase in energy production at the power plant in Bełchatów shows that the modernization investments were successful and it also draws attention to the role of lignite in the Polish energy system.
