Buzek: Gradual departure from coal may be good for Poland (interview) 

„Poland took a constructive approach to the energy mix and decreasing coal participation in electricity production. It is certain that transforming the energy industry and gradually departing from coal may simply be beneficial for us,” argues professor Jerzy Buzek, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), in an interview for Biznesalert.pl.

„Poland can reach a compromise on the so-called winter package and the regulations on the 550 kg/MWh emissions limit for power plants. To do that a clear decarbonization strategy is necessary. Poland demands Nord Stream 2 to be buried under the seabed. „It will impede development of Polish ports”

Last Friday in the town of Straslund in northern Germany, a Polish delegation justified their concerns about Nord Stream 2 construction to German officials. The meeting took place in the local Mining Office. According to the Polish Radio’s unofficial sources Poland demands that the gas pipeline be buried below the seabed. The Nord Stream 2 consortium does not intend to comply. 

PGNiG increased natural gas sales

 The estimated volume of natural gas sold by the PGNiG Group in the second quarter of 2017 was 5.63 bcm, while last year at the same time the figure was 4.71 bcm. During the first half of the year PGNiG sold 14.49 bcm in comparison to 12.68 bcm a year earlier.
